Art Hole Radio

23 Mar

My good buddy, Lucas Roberts, has started up a radio station of sorts at school. It’s totally student run with a small group of wickedly talented executives. We will be looking for submissions from other students as well, so there should be a pretty sweet selection of content coming once we get things rolling.

I’ve got my own show called Shipwrecked. It’s and adapted version of Desert Island Discs from the BBC. I’ve yet to have an episode up, but soon! I am going to be the first cast away, and I hope to interview a girl in my class, Tasha Barrie, very soon.

The official blog for the “station” is here.

Stay tuned for further updates!

ive just seen the play “we will rock you” the Queen trubiute show. the music was pretty good but the story line it went to was a bit messed up and sortof like a cheap B movie…(haha) basically its 300 years in the future and all REAL music has died its just boy bands and computer generated stuff. so the star has to find the legendary axe and play the lost riffs to bring music back to life….weird i know. all that strangeness aside it wasnt too bad. picked up a wicked FLASH tshirt that i will enjoy wearing. its pretty sweet. sad to say that thats probably the closest ill get to hearing Queen live.

update on other things i have been doing.

i did go see billy elliot the other night. very cool show great choreography and the rest. apperantly the whole team from the film has been on the production of the musical which is cool in itself so the same choreographers directors and so on. the music was really good alot of it taken from the script of the show. but none the less Elton John did a wicked job with it.
i also went to madame tussaudes yesterday. honestly save your money. the craftsmanship was amazing extremely lifelike…but it was shite. all it was was a big room with lots of celebrities spaced out in it so you can pose with them. then you go to the pirates of the carrabean room where depp, bloom and knightley were. then to another room and its down to the scary part with all the torchure bits and beheading then out again to the sports stars..i blasted my way through that one. and then on to the music where freddie and the beatles were and political figures. i wanted to take a poto with bush flipping him off but there were too many people. but there was pope john paul II and hitler along with many others. and then there was this LAME as hell “show” about the stars in one of the domes like at the space and science centers, the behind the scenes life of stars…it was really a whole bunch of CG aliens describing what the think a celebrity is. oh and before that there was this one small room with a shite display on how they make the models. it was shite as ive said a few times before. it seemed to be all about the celebrities theyve made and NOTHING about the process which is what i was interested in. and of course after that crap “show” the doors open to the vast gift shop. they only got a pound out of me i made one of those coin press things that just saids madame tussaudes london on it. i felt that was all it was worth really. god that place was crap! so honestly if you go…dont go. save your money.
they had one blurb about how it got started. madame tussaude used to take the death masks of people when they died oviously. so like marie antoinette and louis XXI and all that. i guess people were interested in the death masks so she took her “show” on the road and ended up in london. thats all i know because thats all they really tell you. the eye was more entertaining than that really.

tomorrow i think is stonehenge im going to get my ass out of london and go somewhere. seeing as im home on saturday! only 6 days left. sheesh. the time went fast.

i still dont know why Pete effected me so badly. i guess i cant walk from this going “well if he was interested than ive still got a chance” i think id end up regretting things more if something did happen than regretting nothing happening at all…does that even make sense?? i was very flattered he was a nice guy. im not sure why me though but maybe he thought he fancied me through those beer goggles haha.

well im glad i got the single room for school because something in the bathroom pissed me off not all the way but just annoying. i was in the shower and charging my phone, at least so i thought. some girl hooked up her phone using MY cord and adapter because she had the wrong type….i looked at that thought “what the hell?” was mad because MY phone was supposed to be charging for that time. i just unplugged her phone and left. i dont like people using my things without asking. i mean…she could have asked right? if it was my thing? if she had asked it would have been a different story. i know its a small issue but still. its annoying when people use your things without asking. like ashleigh was saying she was fine if people used her stuff like a plate or whatever if they told her and made sure it was cleaned and put away. THATS ok but using without asking is not cool.

i think ill see a play tonight. what play? ive no idea.

yesterday i thought i was going to billy elliot. turn out thats actually today, i got ahead of myself with the days. so right near where i was there was the theatre where wicked was playing. for those of you who dont know i LOATHED wicked in college because the actors wouldnt shut up about it and they kept singing the one song that got MOST annoying. it suited the show…because she only sang it once. ONCE!!!! not over and over. yeah its a good song, i like it when i hear it ONCE in a while. not every second of the day. anyways. overall i very much enjoyed it. i liked how the story coinsided with the original wizard of oz and im totally on the wicked witches side man. shes not wicked at all! shes awesome. its cool to know how the tin man, the scarecrow and the lion came about. tin man still totally my favorite though its kinda sad how it came about. and it explains why he doesnt have a heart 😦 so i thought that whole intertwining thing was really cool. though i didnt quite grasp why the “ruby” slippers were silver in the play…and how they got ruby. i think ill have to read the book now. the music was pretty awesome too. very uplifting. i got myself a green monkey which is going by the name of Green Monkey…or Master GM. that sounds cool. also a green shirt that says “defy gravity” after that. heck yes i will.

i also ate in a pub yesterday. that was cool. it was called the Duke of York. nice pub and im glad they had non smoking upstairs it was a bit cloudy downstairs. i dont think i could end up with an englishman. id end up giggling at all the silly slang. i ran into a waiter on the stairs going upstairs and he paused and we said hello and so forth and i asked him how he was and he said im good, smashing rather. i just giggled and carried on my way.

i also took a cab home last night i was out on the internet a bit late. so i got into a red “black cab” very cool. the driver and i didnt say much but i got the old “where you goin’ to luv” and all that. i know its just slang but i find it charming for whatever reason. and those cabs are nice! i was in an older one but TONS of leg room. it was glorious. at one point he had to put the breaks on a bit to stop and my stuff fell over and a “sorry luv” came from him hehe. im so lame! it felt a little odd being on the left side in the back looking out the front window with no ones head there. it was a fun way to travel at any rate.

i also flew the eye! wooo. it was good at first then as we got higher…and higher i got more and more nervous. thank goodness for the bench in the middle and railings around the edge. it was nice though, nice day to do it.

i saw billy elliot tonight. great show very cool music. got a couple shirts for myself and Ashleigh seeing as she dies over the movie. i went to the same pub again i was really hungry after the show. apart from that i didnt really do much because i was out late so i slept in late. not sure whats on the plans for tomorrow. if i get up in time westminster abbey. for the weekend i think ill be going outside of london but im not overly sure.

Equus. just the thought of the show makes my heart start racing and emotion come back. i dont think ive been moved by a play like that for so long. to kill a mockingbird might have been the first one. that was in my first year of high school. i regret the thought that half the people were there just to see daniel radcliffe and richard griffiths. i admit the names drew me as well but that wasnt the soul reason i saw it. i also regret that it takes such large names for a show like that to become seen by many people. it definatly shouldnt. i wished i had seen it in edmonton when my friend david was a horse….but im not sure it would have evoked the same emotions. i laughed, and i most certainly wept (openly) for the poor boy Alan Strang almost posessed by horses and his God Equus. if you do or dont know the story….im torn between his action of blinding those 6 horses as right or wrong. to sum it up how i interpreted it is that Equus has basically taken over the boy….he couldnt feel anything BUT Equus haunting his soul. when he tried to make love to a girl in the stable the presence of the horses disturbed him because he knew they were watching and he could hear equus speaking to him. yes the door was closed but damnit…he was still talking. and he had seen everything. he didnt want equus spying on him anymore and he couldnt FEEL anymore. when he touched the girl (who was amazingly beautiful ill carry on that later) he felt hide not skin instead of hearing her he heard him, equus. so to rid equus of his site over alan, and equus is in all horses…he blinded those 6 in the stables that night. and the RAGE of those horses as they stormed from their stables in rage from the pain and not being able to spy on him anymore…was so amazing. god i wish i could describe the climax of the show. the show ended….and they bowed the illuion was gone and i was left shaking and clapping and standing. if it werent so hot here these days im sure i would have left wide eyed pale and in shock. thats how i felt anyways….

back to the girl and her beauty. not her only but alot of the girls ive seen here. they are FULL FIGURED and in lead roles. the actress laying the actress in elephant man, the girl last night, even roxi in chicago. one thing im still trying to grasp. they arent the disgustingly thin girls you see back at home. the girl yesterday im a litle embarassed to admit but i thought of the birth of venus. i am in no way leaning toward being gay but i can and do admire the human figure of both genders. just seeing full figured girls like in the old paintings is so much more beautiful than the thin girls at home. in my opinion. during chicago there was this one especially thin girl in the chorus and all i could think when seeing her was “god shes thin” granted she was petite and a dancer and all the rest but she was SO thin. id be afraid of snapping her arm off if i shook her hand. and a few men are large sized too i mean richard griffiths in all honesty is not a small man (uncle vernon in the harry potters if you dont know)

now of course there were those stupid fan girls…and after the show they say they will be embarassed to watch harry poter and so on seeing as they saw him as naked. good grief. the nakedness was completely appropriate as usually is. he was going to make love to a girl give him a break…how can you do that with underwear on and then in a fit of mad rage need to pull them back on when youre supposed to be blinding horses…stupid. the whole mechanics of the moment would be off if he needed to stop and pull them on again. after seeing the naked version and thinking of the other way pulling them up or not even making love to her (out of the question) just would not work. get over it you saw him naked. isnt that why you were there? “oh i think ill have to go home and watch something happy now but NOT harry potter *giggle*” BARF.

anyways….electric show.

just reading through the programs of the shows ive seen so far last night. the man who played John Merrick aka the elephant man is Marc Pickering who was Young Masbath in Tim Burtons sleepy hollow! the one thing i keep forgetting about west end is its the broadway ofthe UK. duh. dont get me started on the talen in the Lady from Dubuque (said doo-buke like duke but with a B) ok…ill start…first off Dame Maggie Smith. SERIOUS. the only reason i saw it in the first place VERY good show over all a bit strange i need to think about it more they adressed the audience a shit load too. but there were some hilarious parts. The Lady was sortof scater brained off the wall woman who rambled on about alot of things when all the husband wanted to know was who the hell she was. she said to be the wifes mother…though they never really get that confirmation. anyways no need to list her endless credits…then we have a few other people who were in all sorts of things like sex in the city, law and order, braveheart, master and commander, sleepy hollow and so on. i still feel like im going to shows at the citadel or something. no offence to anyone in any party. but i guess its just either surreal or the difference doesnt matter to me. but the theatre last night was amazing! 280 freaking years old and still totally old school inside. i wonder how ill feel after Equuis with Daniel Radcliffe better known as harry potter in the films. i dont know for me it IS weird seeing famous people but not in the way most would think. i mean i was 20 feet from Maggie Smith last night but i didnt see her as THE MAGIE SMITH i saw her as the lady from dubuque rambling all over the place and asking her friend why hes black hahaha (“because my mammy and pappy were black!”) that WAS in the play. i think im a weird fan that way. if i saw someone famous and they saw me id rather just say hi then start having a spaz. not to be rude but they have things to do so do i and i mean EVERYONE asks for an autograph…might be more memerable if i just say hi how are you? instead of yet another fan girl freaking out and falling over themselves. id probably ask for a photo with them..but i mean its not like im going to readilly forget i said hey or even saw someone i admire.
